Have you ever been to Club Continental in Orange Park, Florida? I have and the place is simply magical. The building and grounds have an old world style that is unlike any other that I've seen. Step back in time with this elegant venue. It is situated right on the banks of the St. Johns River and you can have a wedding ceremony right on their beautiful patio overlooking the water. There are huge oak trees shading the grounds with feathery bits of moss trailing from their branches.
Such is the setting that many choose to start their lives together. It is also one of the most perfect places to do a carriage ride. The horse and carriage await for the bride and groom to depart just beyond an elegant courtyard that has tiny bridges and ponds filled with huge Koi fish. I just love the look of this courtyard at night when it is lit up.
Stepping through the large gates of the Club, the bride and groom enter the carriage and are driven away with plenty of time to wave goodbye to friends and family as the carriage makes its way beneath the huge trees that line the winding drive. A short clip-clop away by horse is River Road. Just a perfect place to enjoy a ride. There is little to no traffic and the speed limit is very low at about 15-25mph. The road hugs the bank of the river making for a relaxing ride overlooking the water and enjoying the quaint homes that line the street. There are views of the bridges crossing the river, more beautiful trees and welcoming piers.
